Craquelure is a photographic series of still lives where themes of mortality, representations of beauty, hope and false promise are metaphorically addressed with the aid of implied narrative. The protagonist is a ceramic bird that appears whole and broken throughout the series. Supporting the protagonist, as an environmental component are paper flowers. The bird and flowers repeat across the series interacting with other antagonistic elements such as penny prizes representing empty promise, Ice and cracked glass representing the deterioration of hope, and amorphous black shapes representing mortality.
